During this session, Michael will articulate the changing nature of Underwriting as it blends analytical rigour with experienced judgment. This presentation examines the evolving role of technology in this process, focusing on how it enhances risk assessment and streamlines workflows. We will explore how data analysis and sophisticated tools, including AI and machine learning, are being integrated to support underwriting decisions. The presentation will also consider the integral role of risk management in informing these decisions, particularly for large and complex cases. We will discuss the development and application of non-price tools that facilitate a holistic, whole-of-account approach to underwriting, moving beyond traditional mono-line evaluations. Finally, we will look ahead to the future of underwriting, considering the potential impact of emerging technologies and evolving risk landscapes on the practice.
